流行音樂的代表性人物之一凱蒂˙佩芮在距離奧運只剩不到一個月時，發佈了最新單曲「舉起勝利火炬」。這首歌一發佈後隨即在美國NBC新聞台播出，為接下來的奧運轉播引起觀眾關注和共鳴。

在「舉起勝利火炬」的MV中，巴西里約優美的天然景色首先透過鏡頭映入眼簾。伴隨著凱蒂˙佩芮的歌聲，全球優秀的運動員紛紛在畫面中出現。無論是游泳健將菲爾普斯、短跑名將「閃電」柏特或是體操女王「小黑豆」拜爾斯都在這首歌的MV中亮相。當然，除了這些運動場上成功的身影之外，畫面也帶到2012倫敦奧運中選手的失落、毅力和堅忍，用最深刻、最動人的畫面帶出整部MV的高潮。

「這首歌已經在我腦海中繚繞了好幾年！現在它終於從我的腦海中浮出水面了。」凱蒂˙佩芮說：「與其把這首歌留到下一張專輯再發行，我認為現在更是完成它的時候。因為以世界的局勢來看，現在比任何時候都更需要一個讓全球同心、團結的理由。」凱蒂˙佩芮說：「我知道當我們團結在一起，我們可以戰勝恐懼，讓每個國家攜手一起創造更好的未來。這種力量在這些奧運選手的表現中最為明顯。他們一同聚集在里約，用他們各自的專長，讓全世界看見他們無懼的力量。同時也提醒著我們，當我們全部同心協力，才能給這世界一個更好的未來。」
